📱 10 Apps I Never Travel Without

Welcome to the very first article in my own Travel Bunny section. This feels way too good to say. I’ll be saying it again. MY OWN. I’m sooo excited. We’re gonna have so much fun together as we go through everything you need to know about travelling.

As you may have heard, travelling is a huge passion of mine. I've visited everything from the most popular destinations and tourist traps to the smallest villages and lesser-known hidden gems. I’m a true explorer, and if there’s something somewhere waiting to be discovered, you can bet your head I’ll be seeing it. And I Will Be Taking Pictures!

Are you ready to start planning your next adventure? You gotta tell me where you’re headed because I’m dying to know. Or are you still browsing for ideas? This article might just be the perfect place to start. I’m not telling you why though. Keep reading and find out.

Below, I’ve listed the travel apps I never leave home without, along with some friendly advice coming straight from my fabulous self. Let’s check them out.

Don't you just hate it when you really feel like travelling, but planning can be such a chore? You’ve been scrolling through TikTok, saved a couple of travel videos, written down a few destinations... and suddenly it all feels like too much work to look everything up one stop at a time.

Spoiler alert: I may have the solution. Actually... I’m pretty sure I do. I recently came across an app that does the hard work for you.

I love travel TikToks, but looking up every café, viewpoint and stop featured in the video is definitely not my favourite part of planning a trip. 

Luckily, GetWay does it all for you.

The best part? It's completely free.

After deciding on your next destination, here comes the best and worst part of planning a trip – booking the flights. This will either be great news or absolutely heartbreaking. 

You never really know until you open Google, start comparing flights and hope the airlines decide to take pity on your bank account. Unfortunately, they rarely do.

Kiwi.com is usually my first choice. If I put in my travel dates and can't find any decent deals there, I already know my plane ticket is probably going to bleed my wallet dry. Still, it's hands down one of the best places to look if you're hunting for the lowest fares.

My favourite feature is Price Lock. If you're not quite ready to book, you can pay a small fee to lock the current fare for a limited time, so you don't have to panic about the price suddenly going up while you're still deciding. I honestly wish more flight apps had this feature.

Skyscanner is another app I always check before booking. It compares prices across different airlines and travel providers, making it much easier to see whether you've actually found a good deal or if there's an even better one out there.

I'll be honest—I can't imagine travelling without Revolut anymore.

One of the things I dislike most before a trip is exchanging money. Traditional exchange offices often have poor rates, and I always end up wondering if I could have gotten a better deal somewhere else. With Revolut, I can exchange currencies in just a few taps, usually at much better rates, which saves me both time and money.

If you prefer carrying cash or simply like keeping a few foreign banknotes and coins as souvenirs, Revolut also offers free international cash withdrawals. I usually keep one or two of each currency and add them to my framed currency collage at home.

It's also incredibly handy when you're travelling with friends. Whether we're splitting a restaurant bill, paying each other back for museum tickets or sharing taxi fares, sending money takes just a few seconds.

I also love collecting RevPoints. Some people redeem them for gift cards, but I usually save mine for eSIMs whenever I'm travelling abroad. It's such a simple way to avoid paying ridiculous roaming charges.

And yes... I may or may not have ordered one of their physical cards purely because I wanted to customise it myself. But honestly... have you seen it? It looks fabulous covered in diamond emojis.

"Google Maps has saved me more times than I'd like to admit. My sense of direction is... let's just say it could use some work." That's something I'd never say. I can walk through cities I've never been to and still lead us back to our hotel without checking the map. I'm just that good.

After travelling with Chloe and Ruby, though, Google Maps became the one app I insisted they both download. They're completely lost without me... or the app.

Besides helping you get from A to B, Google Maps lets you save restaurants, cafés and places you want to visit before your trip. Having everything pinned on one map makes planning so much easier.

One tip I always recommend is downloading offline maps before you travel. If you lose signal or run out of mobile data, you'll still be able to find your way back to your hotel without panicking.

If you're planning a road trip, Waze is one of those apps you'll be grateful you downloaded before leaving home.

Unlike traditional navigation apps, Waze is constantly updated by other drivers, which means you'll often get warned about traffic jams, roadworks, accidents or road closures before you get stuck in them. It also suggests quicker alternative routes in real time, helping you spend less time in traffic and more time actually enjoying your trip.

I especially love using it when driving somewhere unfamiliar. Instead of stressing about unexpected delays or wondering why the motorway has suddenly come to a standstill, Waze usually lets you know what's happening and reroutes you automatically if there's a better option.

It's one of those apps you don't fully appreciate... until it saves you an hour on the road.

I'll admit it... I'm terrible at sitting still on holiday.

After walking around all day, I usually start wondering what else is happening nearby. Is there a festival this weekend? A rooftop party? A sunset boat cruise? A wine tasting? Maybe a food tour or a fun day trip? That's exactly where I open GetYourGuide.

I love that it gathers all sorts of experiences in one place. Whether you're looking for concerts, local events, cooking classes, nightlife, museums, galleries or guided tours, it's a great way to see what's actually happening while you're there instead of spending an hour jumping between different websites.

Whenever I find something that catches my eye, I save it to my favourites so I can compare a few options before booking. It makes choosing much easier when there are dozens of similar experiences.

I actually discovered TheFork while doomscrolling on Pinterest one evening, and I'm so glad I did.

I first used it during my birthday trip to Milan, where I booked several restaurants through the app. Depending on the place, I saved anywhere between 10% and 40% on my bill, which definitely made eating out feel a little less guilty.

One thing I also love is that every booking earns you Yums, TheFork's reward points. Once you've collected enough, you can use them as credit towards future restaurant visits. Free food always tastes better, doesn't it?

If you're travelling to a city where TheFork is available, I'd definitely recommend booking your restaurants in advance. Not only can you get some great discounts, but you also won't have to spend half your evening wandering around looking for a table. 

If you love surprises as much as I do, you're going to love this app.

Too Good To Go lets you order surprise bags from bakeries, cafés and restaurants for a fraction of the usual price. You never know exactly what's waiting inside until you pick it up, which honestly makes the whole experience even more exciting.

I've mostly gone for bakery bags so far, and I've never been disappointed. For just a few pounds, I've walked away with enough pastries to last me at least a couple of breakfasts.

That said, if you have allergies or dietary restrictions, I'd recommend contacting the business beforehand. Since every bag is different, it's always better to double-check than end up with something you can't eat.

I absolutely love exploring cities on foot, but after walking twenty thousand steps in one day, even I know it's time to call it quits.

That's when Uber and Bolt become my best friends.

Before I book a ride, I always check both apps. It only takes a few seconds, and sometimes the price difference is surprisingly big. If comparing them saves me enough money for a dessert later, I'm definitely comparing them.

Another thing I like is knowing the price before I even get in the car. No awkward surprises, no trying to explain where I'm going in a language I don't speak very well, and no worrying about having the right cash on me.

If both apps are available where you're travelling, I'd definitely recommend keeping them on your phone. You never know when your feet will decide they've had enough for one day.

If you're travelling solo and feel like meeting new people, I'd definitely recommend giving Timeleft a try.

When you sign up, you'll answer a few questions about yourself—what you do for a living, whether you're more introverted or extroverted, your interests and a few other bits. Based on your answers, the app matches you with six strangers for dinner and even takes care of booking the restaurant for you.

If everyone gets along, the evening doesn't have to end there. After dinner, you'll also get an invitation to continue the night at a nearby bar with the same group. 

The dinners only take place on Wednesdays, but they're such a fun way to step out of your comfort zone while meeting locals or fellow travellers.

Now... I might be a little biased when it comes to this app.

The first time I signed up, I met someone who happened to share my exact date of birth, and we clicked instantly. The second time... I met my boyfriend.

So yes, I may not be the most objective person to ask.

Success rate though? I'd say a solid 100%.

P.S. To anyone who's been counting the apps this whole time... yes, I know there are more than ten. 

In my defence, some apps just belong together. They simply work better as a pair, and I refuse to separate them for the sake of a nice, round number. 

You have excellent attention to detail. I have excellent app recommendations. Let's call it even.
